In the two years I’ve been in this position, these students have done everything I’ve asked and more. They’ve grown quicker than I imagined and are outgrowing our current materials and structure. Information for Monday, August 29th

After-School Practices:

Monday, August 29th, is the first day of school.  The Marching Band and Colorguard will have after-school practice on the first day of school.  After-school practices will be on Monday and Tuesdays until 5 pm.  Please make sure that your student has a ride waiting for them at 5 pm.

 

Richmond Competition and Trip:  Chaperones Needed

We are in severe need of at least 12 more chaperones to be able to go on the Richmond Competition and Trip on October 22-23rd.  Currently, we only have 1 chaperone per 11 students which is not enough for a full 2 day and overnight trip.  We have until Monday, August 29th at 12 noon to get 12 chaperones registered.  If you are available to chaperone, please visit the worldstrides website and sign up today: www.worldstrides.com/register.  Use the group’s trip number:  137621.  Once you have registered, you will receive a Customer Account Number.  If you are a parent and you want to chaperone but the trip cost is an issue, please contact Beverly Gore, beverlygore@gmail.com, so that we can add the trip cost to your student’s fair share and register you for the trip.  This will allow you some extra time to pay on the account.

 

Uniform Fittings:  Start August 29th at 6 pm.  

We will begin fitting students for their marching band uniforms on 8/29/16 at 6 pm in the band room.  Uniform fitting can be a long process so please be patient.  The more help we have the quicker and easier the fittings will go.  You may want to have your student call or text you when they are finished before coming to pick them up.  If you would like to come help fit the students for uniforms then please sign-up using the following link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f084aacab2fa1fa7-seniorjunior.  Students are fitted by grade level.  The uniform fitting schedule is below:

Monday, 8/29 –  ALL SENIORS & JUNIORS (last names starting with the letter A – L)

Tuesday, 8/30 – JUNIORS (last names starting with letter M-Z) & SOPHMORES (last names starting A – P)

Tuesday, 9/6 – SOPHOMORES (last names starting Q – Z) & ALL FRESHMEN

***** All students must be present to get fitted for a uniform.  The band will be performing on 9/9 at the home football game ****

 

Marching Band & Colorguard Shoe Order Forms are due Monday, August 29th

If you are a new Marching Band Student or a returning Marching Band Student and your band shoes no longer fit or have become too worn, then you will need to purchase new shoes.  All Colorguard Students must purchase new shoes.  All shoe order forms are due back on Monday, August 29th.  The shoe order forms were sent home last week and a copy of the order forms have been sent out over the listserv several times in the last 2 weeks.

 

Al’s Dining for Dollars:  Starts August 29th from 5-9 pm.  

Eat at Al’s Diner between 5-9 pm and help earn money for the marching band program.  Al’s will donate 10% of sales during this time to the NHS Marching Band.  Take-out benefits the band too.  Dine-in or take-out; either way you’ll be helping the band… and you don’t have to cook!  Eat at Al’s on the following dates and times:  Monday, 8/29, Monday, 9/19, Monday, 10/10, Monday, 11/14, and Monday 11/28.
